As fabric technology has advanced, fabrics and construction have become more durable, and the actual weights have decreased over time. This quick guide list the three most popular fabric weight classes for baseball and softball pants.

Pro Weight 14-17oz.

Pro weight pants have a limited selection of styles but have the highest level of durability. Pro weight pants feature 14 to 17oz. fabrics and were built to withstand sliding and tons of abuse. League Weight 12-14oz.

League weight pants are our most popular weight class for baseball and softball pants. These pants are perfect for rec level to travels teams.  12oz. pants tend to be the most popular choice for little league players.  14oz. is the typical pant weight for high school players. Lightweight 9-11oz.

Lightweight pants typically feature a pull up design popular for young tee ball players. These pants have a non-complex design that makes them easy to put on for kids.  The Augusta 1487 10oz. Tee Ball Baseball Pants are our best-selling style.

Outside of the actual fabric weights our pro and league level pants typically have double material on the knees and reinforced construction throughout for more durability. The lightweight models were designed for younger kids in tee ball leagues that don’t slide and dive around like older players. Not only are these pant fabrics more lightweight but they lack the built in durability features of the more expensive styles.
